About the Owners (past and present)

The Sharpes: When I was a young boy some 60 years ago, my now wife's father, who was named J. Edgar Moser, had a Comet sailboat which he sailed on the Alton Lake, near St. Louis, where we lived. He took me sailing for the first time which launched perhaps the most pervasive activity in my life. It even accounts for our living in Newport, "the sailing capital of the world" rather than the Midwest. I built a dinghy and later acquired a series of sailboats ending with a forty foot yawl. A couple of years ago I decided the yawl was just too much work for people of our advanced age, and it was time to get a motor vessel. I searched far and wide and concluded that only an LNVT would do. The transition has been a complete success in large part because of the enthusiastic participation of my wife Mimi, old J. Edgar's daughter. So, since it is common for tugs to have male names, it was a natural to remember him as the namesake of the tug. (from an email dated 18 December 2001)

Bill and Mimi Sharpe owned their Cheoy Lee 40' Offshore for 30 years and cruised Maine extensively. In their former lives Bill was an electrical engineer and Mimi a real estate broker.

Charles Cutler took great care of Hector. He cruised with his two nieces until age kept him at the dock.
