About the Owners Present and Past

Micheley and Michael: These two own Resurrect Art Coffee House and Art Gallery located inside a 105 year old church in downtown Seward, Alaska. Micheley teaches evening classes there on wellness and meditation and is the third generation in her family to work in support of this small vibrant Seward community. Michael has worked as a professional mariner for 25 years and also as a wildlife guide in the Arctic and Antarctic. He was granted a Small Vessel Waiver from MARAD and a US Coastwise Trade Endorsement from the Coast Guard to utilize Fair Isle as a documented charter vessel in Alaskan waters. Mike will carry 6 paying passengers on evening cruises of Resurrection Bay during the Summer months.

Loren and Nancy: Loren is a master cabinet maker and a shipwright. He and his wife Nancy enjoyed cruising their beautiful backyard of Puget Sound with Cielito.

Philip and Erin: Philip is a photographer and writer from Montesano, WA and Erin is an astrologer from Seattle, WA. They live on Orcas Island with their daughter, Faye, and dog, Pilot. Erin grew up spending summer cruising BC waters on her parent's boat so she's the expert. Philip is just along for the ride and hopes to learn something along the way.

Jill and John: John is a retired surgeon from the SFO bay area and a long-time racing sailor. Jill is a multi-talented businesswoman, tennis champ and pet owner.

Ted and Nan: purchased Mikfin brand new in 1986 and lived aboard until November 2007. They've cruised the Puget Sound and Hood Canal areas in Washington. Read about their liveaboard experiences in Nor'westing Magazine's, The Liveaboard Lifestyle pdficon.gif.

"When we ordered Mikfin we put our home on Bainbridge Island up for sale. As I remember, we were promised an early June delivery. Then Ocean Eagle Yard had a workers strike and stopped everything. Our home sold and we were without anywhere to live in late July. We pressed pretty hard for a completion date and were able to get Cruising Yachts, the brokerage, to come up with some form of compensation to us for our temporary housing. That may be why our boat got going on construction before some others. It was a wild time. Mikfin arrived in Tacoma, WA in late October, was commissioned in Seattle and we took possession in mid November. What a truly great day that was." — Nan Mader, 26 June 2008
